MONROE - Alcohol was a factor in an all-terrain vehicle crash Saturday in which a Brodhead man was injured.

After he was recently released from custody for seventh-offense drunken driving, Rodney Arnsmeier, 49, was driving his ATV on Mount Hope Road, south of Brodhead, when the vehicle left the road.

Arnsmeier sustained injuries and was taken to the Monroe Clinic. He was later transported by Med Flight to University of Wisconsin Hospital.

According to Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources public affairs manager Greg Matthews, alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.

Arnsmeier was fined $438 Monday for driving an ATV while intoxicated, according to Wisconsin Circuit Court Access.

Matthews said Arnsmeier had been released from custody after he was arrested Aug. 13 for seventh-offense drunken driving. He was released on a $3,000 signature bond Aug. 14. His preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 31 for the class H felony. He faces up to six years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.
