BRODHEAD – For the week of Aug. 30 to Sept. 5, police performed 97 security checks, 27 citizen assists, 22 assists of other agencies, nine follow-ups to incidents, 23 vehicle registrations and 21 traffic stops; responded to 35 calls for service and reported five EMS calls, 14 911 or BEEMS (Brodhead Elderly Emergency Monitoring System) calls and one fire call. No detox or mental health transports were reported.

On Aug. 30:

●  A person causing a disturbance was reported at 10 a.m. in the 1400 block of West 4th Avenue. Police made contact, and the matter was resolved.

●  People yelling obscenities were reported at 1:06 p.m. in the 400 block of West 3rd Avenue. Police made contact and issued warnings.

●  A Milton woman, 54, was cited for speeding at 6:47 p.m. in the 300 block of 23rd Street.

●  Two juveniles were warned for being in a park after hours and after curfew at 10:49 p.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue.

●  A possible break-in was reported at 11:28 p.m. in the 1800 block of West 5th Avenue. Police found no evidence of a break-in.

On Aug. 31:

●  Suspicious activity involving a dome light to a vehicle going on and off was reported at 2:30 a.m. in the W100 block of 1st Street. Police determined it was an electrical issue with the vehicle.

●  A dog at large was reported at 8:43 a.m. in the 1000 block of West Exchange Street. The dog was returned to its owner. The owner was warned for allowing it to roam at large.

●  Police responded at 1:33 p.m. to the 2500 block of West 5th Avenue for an alarm. The alarm had been pressed accidentally.

●  Gunshots were reported at 5 p.m. in the 100 block of Juniper Avenue. Police found no evidence of gunshots in the area.

●  Fireworks were reported at 6:56 p.m. in the 200 block of East 4th Avenue. Police issued a warning.

On Sept. 1:

●  A dog at large was reported at 9:14 a.m. in the 600 block of 12th Street. The dog was returned to its owner. A warning was issued.

●  Tire tracks in a yard and damage to a tree were reported at 12:13 p.m. in the 200 block of East 4th Avenue.

●  A dog at large was reported at 1:51 p.m. in the 1500 block of East 4th Avenue. The dog was returned to its owner. A warning was issued.

●  Fraud was reported at 2:07 p.m. in the 1000 block of West Exchange Street. The complainant was given identity theft resources.

●  A Brodhead man, 17, was cited for loud or unnecessary noise at 2:40 p.m. in the 2500 block of West 5th Avenue.

On Sept. 2:

●  A Pecatonica, Illinois woman, 77, was cited for speeding at 1:07 p.m. in the 100 block of 23rd Street.

●  Police responded at 6:25 p.m. to the 1200 block of West 3rd Avenue for a report of a physical altercation that occured at Headgates Park. It remained under investigation.

On Sept. 4:

●  Police contacted a Madison man, 27, in the 400 block of 1st Center Avenue at 10:54 a.m. regarding a Wisconsin Department of Corrections warrant. The warrant was canceled by the man’s probation or parole agent and he was instructed to meet with the agent at a later time.

●  A Beloit woman, 18, was issued a warning for unsafe backing following a traffic crash on private property reported at 11:55 a.m. in the 1900 block of 1st Center Avenue.

●  A civil dispute was reported at 4:02 p.m. in the 1100 block of West 3rd Avenue.

●  Scam calls were reported at 4:46 p.m. in the 2200 block of West 4th Avenue.

●  A Monroe woman, 21, was cited for failure to wear a seatbelt at 6:10 p.m. at West 3rd Avenue and 4th Street.

●  A Juda man, 21, was cited for no proof of vehicle insurance at 6:14 p.m. at 1st Street and East 9th Avenue.

●  A Madison woman, 55, was cited for driving without a valid license at 6:21 p.m. at East 9th Avenue and 4th Street.

●  A Brodhead man, 41, was cited for driving without a valid license at 6:53 p.m. at 4th Street and West 2nd Avenue.
