Monticello Police

MONTICELLO — Police are investigating suspicious activity reports/traffic violations at 12:30 p.m. April 18 on North Monroe Street and Oak Ridge Avenue. 

On April 19: 

●  Suspicious activity was reported at 9:11 a.m. in the 300 block of South Garfield Street. 

●  An unsafe tree was reported at 10:47 a.m. in the 100 block of West Highland Avenue. The street department was contacted. 

●  A possible traffic violation was reported at 2:33 p.m. in the 600 block of Washington Street. This is under investigation. 

On April 20: 

●  Police responded to check welfare at 11:44 a.m. Everything was okay. 

●  Police responded to check welfare on a cat at 3:54 p.m. in the 1000 block of East Lake Avenue. The cat was found to be okay. 

●  Police responded for a vehicle unlock at 5:09 p.m. in the 300 block of South Garfield Street. 

●  Trespassing was reported at 5:59 p.m. in the 300 block of South Garfield Street. No trespassers were located. 

On April 21: 

●  Police, Monticello Fire First Response and Green County EMS responded at 4:39 p.m. for a medical emergency. 

●  A 911 hang-up was reported at 5:53 p.m. on West Coates Avenue and North Main Street. Everything was okay. 

●  Police responded to check welfare at 8:06 p.m. April 22 in the 300 block of South Garfield Street.


Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD — For the week of April 18 to April 24, police performed 26 security checks, 18 citizen assists, six assists of other agencies, 28 follow-ups to incidents, 15 vehicle registration and five traffic stops; responded to 34 calls for service and reported seven EMS calls, 12 911 or BEEMS (Brodhead Elderly Emergency Monitoring System) calls and three fire calls. No detox or mental health transports were reported. 

On April 18: 

●  A subject urinating in public was reported at 1:20 a.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. A warning was issued. 

●  A broken bottle in the roadway was reported at 2:37 a.m. in the 1100 block of West 2nd Avenue. Officers safely removed bottle. 

●  An open flame fire in back yard was reported at 2:53 p.m. in the 900 block of East 4th Avenue. Subjects were advised of city’s fire pit ordinance. 

●  Suspicious activity was reported at 7:41 p.m. in the 1600 block of East 8th Avenue. Police found nothing suspicious. 

●  A 16-year-old was cited for disorderly conduct on school property at 12:14 p.m. April 19 in the 2500 block of West 5th Avenue.  

On April 20: 

●  Disorderly conduct was reported at 11:20 a.m. in the 2500 block of West 5th Avenue. This remains under investigation. 

●  A traffic crash was reported at 5:52 p.m. in the 800 block of East Exchange Street. A warning for failure to yield was issued. 

●  A dog running at large was reported at 6:54 p.m. in the 400 block of 14th Street. A warning was issued. 

On April 21: 

●  A parking complaint was reported at 3:17 p.m. in the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue.  

●  Fraud involving two scam phone calls was reported at 5:44 p.m. in the 800 block of East 7th Avenue. 

●  Two 13-year-olds were cited for disorderly conduct on school property at 12:52 p.m. April 22 in the 2100 block of West 9th Avenue. 

On April 23: 

●  Disorderly conduct with a vehicle was reported at 8:03 a.m. in the 2500 block of West 5th Avenue. A warning was issued. 

●  Trespassing was reported at 9:56 a.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. A warning was issued. 

●  Trash and debris scattered around property was reported at 3:55 p.m. in the 400 block of East 6th Avenue. A warning was issued. 

●  A 16-year-old male was cited for driving without valid license at 11:48 p.m. in the 400 block of East 9th Avenue. 

On April 24: 

●  Subjects in the park after hours was reported at 12:20 a.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. Warnings were issued. 

●  A Orfordville man, 34, was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct at 1:45 a.m. in the 500 block of West 2nd Avenue. 

●  A Brodhead man, 27, was cited for possession of marijuana at 4:13 a.m. in the 1100 block of 11th Street. 

●  A Davis, Illinois man, 27, was cited for non-registration of auto at 4:17 p.m. in the 100 block of East 9th Avenue following a non-reportable traffic crash.  


Monroe Police

MONROE — Benjamin R. Normington, 35, Monticello, was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating while intoxicated, possession of THC, carrying a concealed and dangerous weapon and armed with a firearm while intoxicated at 12:29 a.m. April 22 in the 800 block of Wis. 69. He was also cited for speeding. He was jailed.

●  Evelyn V. Siedschlag, 92, Monroe, was transported to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room for minor injuries sustained from a single-vehicle crash at 1:55 p.m. April 24 on Wis. 69 and 10th Street. She lost control of her vehicle and struck a light pole. Her vehicle was towed. On April 26: 

●  Jean E. Justice, 26, Monroe, was arrested on three counts of battery to a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and for a hold issued by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections at 12:47 a.m. at a residence in the 400 block of West 21st Street. Justice was jailed. 

●  Chad O. Osbaugh, 38, Monroe, was arrested on a parole violation requested by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections at 8:59 p.m. in the 1300 block of 17th Street. He was jailed. 

●  Jerry A. Allison, 40, Monroe, was arrested on a warrant issued by the Monroe Police Department for failure to appear in court for a driving after revocation case at 6:53 p.m. April 27 in the 1000 block of 4th Avenue West. He was jailed. 


Green County Sheriff

MONROE — Filomeno Vargas Cortes, 50, Darlington, was cited for driving without a valid license, 2nd offense within 3 years, and no vehicle insurance at 1 a.m. April 22 in the W8500 block of Wis. 81, Town of Jordan. 

On April 23: 

●  Roberto F. Garcia Fajardo, 18, Monticello, was cited for possession of THC and drug paraphernalia at 11:43 p.m. in the N3200 block of County N, Town of Monroe. 

●  Nicholas B. Miller, 31, Brodhead, was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating under the influence at 2:39 a.m. in the W2000 block of Wis. 11, Town of Spring Grove. He was also cited for speeding. He was released. 

 ●  No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle crash at 2:44 p.m. April 23 in the W8100 block of Wis. 81, Town of Jordan. Neil T. Swiggum, 69, South Wayne, was westbound in a pickup hauling a trailer when an item fell off the trailer and collided with an eastbound vehicle operated by Darin M. Erickson, 51, Blanchardville. His vehicle sustained moderate damage. Swiggum was cited for failure to secure load. Argyle EMS and Browntown Fire Department assisted. 

●  No injuries were reported from a vehicle vs. fence crash at 9:43 p.m. April 25 in the W3200 block of County EE, Town of Mt. Pleasant. Gwendolyn R. Carrol, 16, Janesville, was eastbound when she exited the roadway and hit a fence. Her vehicle sustained disabling damage. It was towed. 

●  Christopher A. Humphrey, 35, Browntown, was arrested on a Lafayette County warrant for failure to appear at 9:39 p.m. April 26 in the 100 block of North Mill Street, Town of Cadiz. He was turned over to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office. 

●  Kevin W. Waggoner, 61, New Glarus, was arrested on a charge of felony bail jumping at 10:39 p.m. April 28 in the N9600 block of Argue Road, Town of Exeter as a result of a 911 call. He was jailed. Belleville Police Department and New Glarus Police Department assisted. 

On April 28: 

●  Deputies located a vehicle that had moderate front-end damage from a recent crash at 4:06 a.m. in the W700 block of Golf Course Road, Town of Decatur. Investigation revealed David A. Scofield Jr., 32, Brodhead, swerved to avoid a deer and hit a tree at 5 p.m. April 27. The vehicle was removed. Scofield was cited for failure to notify law enforcement of a crash, possession of open intoxicants, driving while suspended and no vehicle insurance.  

●  Deputies observed a single-vehicle crash at 10:40 a.m. in the W4400 block of County W, Town of Exeter. Michael A. Konopacki, 78, Chesterton, Indiana, hit a rock in the roadway. The vehicle sustained moderate damage. It was towed.
