Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD — For the week of May 5-11, police performed 60 security checks, 44 citizen assists, eight assists of other agencies, 13 vehicle registrations and 12 follow-ups to incidents; responded to 29 calls for service, 10 EMS calls and 12 911 or BEEMS (Brodhead Elderly Emergency Monitoring System) calls; and made 10 traffic stops. There was one mental health transport. No fire calls or detox transports were reported. 

On Sunday, May 5:

●  A Monroe man, 79, was cited for speeding at 9:36 a.m. in the 500 block of 1st Street.

●  A vehicle being driven on the closed service road at the Pearl Island Corridor was reported at 4:45 p.m. Police made contact and issued a warning.

On Monday, May 6:

●  Truancy was reported at 8:25 a.m. in the 2500 block of West 5th Avenue. A warning was issued.

●  A traffic crash causing a vehicle to get stuck in a parking lot was reported at 12 p.m. in the 400 block of East 9th Avenue. Due to this occurring on private property, no citations were issued.

●  A Freeport, Illinois man, 56, was cited for speeding at 4:27 p.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street.

●  A Brodhead man, 52, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign at 5:47 p.m. in the 1100 block of 17th Street.

●  A person causing a disturbance was reported at 6:20 p.m. in the 1200 block of 16th Street.

On Tuesday, May 7:

●  A person causing a disturbance was reported at 5:14 a.m. in the 700 block of 17th Street.

On Wednesday, May 8:

●  Vandalism to playground equipment was reported at 9:53 a.m. in the 300 block of 4th Street.

●  A person being unruly inside a business was reported at 2:09 p.m. in the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue. Police made contact and issued a warning.

On Thursday, May 9:

●  A person stuck on a roof after the ladder had fallen was reported at 10:44 a.m. in the 1300 block of West 3rd Avenue. The person was assisted safely back to the ground.

On Friday, May 10:

●  An 18-year-old was cited for smoking in a prohibited enclosed place at 11:22 a.m. in the 2500 block of West 5th Avenue.

On Saturday, May 11:

●  Several vehicles parked on the terrace and blocking the sidewalk were reported at 1:39 a.m. in the 1600 block of West 4th Avenue. Warnings were issued.

●  A vehicle parked facing traffic was reported at 2:41 a.m. in the 700 block of East 3rd Avenue. A warning was issued.

●  A truck parked off the Heavy Truck Route was reported at 10:39 a.m. in the 100 block of East 4th Avenue. A warning was issued.

●  A Brodhead woman, 31, was cited for driving with a suspended license at 7:24 p.m. in the 400 block of 1st Street.


Monroe Police

MONROE — Jordan J. Knox, 29, Monroe, was arrested in the 2900 block of 11th Avenue at 5:12 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, on a felony warrant issued by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office for failure to report to jail on a prior case. He was taken to the Green County Sheriff’s Office and subsequently transported to Rock County.


Green County Sheriff

MONROE — Derek J. McGowen, 29, Monticello, was arrested on a second-offense charge of operating while under the influence of alcohol after deputies responded to a report of a vehicle stuck in a yard in the N2100 block of Allen Road, Town of Cadiz, at 3:31 a.m. Thursday, May 9. He was also cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle. He was later released pending court. The vehicle was towed.

●  Clark W. Schaller, 30, Monticello, was arrested on a charge of obstructing/resisting police and on a probation and parole warrant after deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in the N5400 block of Gutzmer Road, Town of Mount Pleasant, at 1:55 p.m. Friday, May 10. He was jailed pending court.

On Sunday, May 12: 

●  A person walking along the roadway was reported at 4:59 a.m. in the N3200 block of Wis. 81, Town of Monroe. Deputies located the person, identified as Justin D. Nyman, 27, Monroe, and investigation led to Nyman’s arrest on a probation hold issued through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections due to a violation of his conditions of probation. He was jailed.

●  Trevor G. Affolter-Rutsch, 40, Albany, turned himself in at the sheriff’s office at 6:55 p.m. on a Wisconsin Department of Corrections arrest warrant. He was jailed.


Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON — On Thursday, May 2:

●  A deputy assisted Belmont police with an alarm at 7:33 p.m. on Dawn Vista Terrace in Belmont.

●  Livestock on the roadway was reported at 9:27 p.m. on Larson Road, Town of Wayne.

●  A disabled vehicle was reported at 11:10 p.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Seymour.

●  Jason C. Styles, 42, Port Washington, was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated after a deputy responded for a welfare check at 11:40 p.m. on County XX, Town of Belmont. Styles was transported to the sheriff’s office.

On Friday, May 3:

●  Livestock on the roadway was reported at 3:42 a.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Elk Grove.

●  Deputies responded for a residential alarm at 12:15 p.m. on Dawn Vista Drive in Belmont.

●  A deputy came across a disabled vehicle at 5:47 p.m. on County G, Town of Belmont.

●  Austin S. Guy, 18, Orangeville, was cited for speeding at 8:27 p.m. on Wis. 11 in Gratiot.

On Saturday, May 4:

●  A male juvenile was cited for a graduated driver’s license violation at 12:22 a.m. on County F, Town of Fayette.

●  Deputies responded to a noise complaint at 1:34 a.m. in Blanchardville.

●  A deputy attempted to stop a vehicle at 3:32 a.m. on Wis. 78 in Blanchardville. The driver, identified as Hayden J. Arneson, 19, Monroe, got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. He was later arrested by police in Monroe and jailed on charges of eluding officers and driving with a revoked license. The Lafayette County K-9 unit, Al’s Towing and the Green County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the case.

  ●  A deputy responded at 5:31 a.m. to Cub Hollow Road, Town of Darlington, to assist St. Luke’s Hospital.
