Monroe Police

MONROE — Darwin W. Nipple, 53, Brodhead, was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating while intoxicated at 11:56 p.m. Feb. 1 in the 2900 block of 13th Street. He was issued a citation for first-offense operating while intoxicated. He was released to a responsible party. 

●  An incident was reported at 2:47 a.m. Feb. 2 in the 1100 block of 16th Avenue. Richard D. Hartwig Jr., 64, Monroe, was arrested on one count of fourth-degree sexual assault. He was released after posting bond. 

●  A disturbance was reported at 7:10 p.m. Feb. 3 at a residence in the 200 block of 4th Avenue. Amy M. Holst, 32, Monroe, was cited for trespassing and battery.


Green County Sheriff

DARLINGTON — A 911 call was reported at 1:22 p.m. Feb. 3 at a residence in the W800 block of Yarwood Road, Town of Brooklyn. Michael J. McPherson, 26, Chicago, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. 


Monticello Police

MONTICELLO — On Jan. 20: 

●  Police assisted another law enforcement agency with locating two juveniles at 9:10 a.m. in the 100 block of North Main Street. 

●  Theft was reported at 2:08 p.m. in the 500 block of South Main Street. Investigation found it to be a civil matter between landlord and tenant. Caller advised to contact attorney. 

On Jan. 21: 

●  A child custody dispute was reported at 7:51 a.m. in the 300 block of South Main Street. No further action was needed. 

●  A scam was reported at 12:05 p.m. It was found that caller did not reside in the village. Instructed to contact the appropriate agency to file a report. 

●  Police conducted traffic control for Monticello Fire First Response at 1:24 p.m. Jan. 22 in the township. 

●  Police issued 11 parking citations at 7 a.m. Jan. 24 for violation of the winter parking ordinance. 

On Jan. 25: 

●  A parking citation was issued at 7 a.m. for violation of the winter parking ordinance. 

●  Information in regards to narcotics was reported at 8:05 a.m. at an undisclosed location. This remains under investigation. 

●  A parking complaint was reported at 8:06 a.m. in the 300 block of South Main Street. 

●  A parking citation was issued at 9:12 a.m. and at 9:49 a.m. in the 100 block of Staedtler Avenue. Owner had been previously notified and no action had been taken. 

●  Police investigated a code violation at 1:18 p.m. in the 300 block of South Garfield Street. A letter was sent to the owner in regards to an inoperable vehicle. 

●  Police issued five parking citations at 7 a.m. Jan. 26 for violation of winter parking ordinance. 

On Jan. 27: 

●  Police assisted another law enforcement agency about illegal activity at 7:53 a.m. at an undisclosed location. This remains under investigation. 

●  A school bus vs. SUV crash was reported at 7:53 a.m. in the 200 block of East Park Avenue. No students were on the bus. No injuries were reported. 

●  A child custody dispute was reported at 8:12 a.m. The citizen was advised to contact their attorney. 

●  Excessive snow built up around a mailbox was reported at 11:19 a.m. in the 100 block of North Main Street. Resolved by owner. 

●  Suspicious activity was reported at 1:20 p.m. in the 100 block of North Main Street.

On Jan. 28: 

●  A parking citation was issued at 6:55 a.m. and at 9:46 a.m. in the 100 block of Staedtler Avenue for violation of the 24-hour parking ordinance. Owner had been previously notified and no action had been taken. 

●  A warning letter was issued for a illegally parked vehicle at 10:05 a.m. in the 100 block of Staedtler Avenue. 

●  A fraudulent phone call was reported at 11:38 a.m. in the 700 block of Johnson Street. 

●  A traffic complaint involving a vehicle illegally passing a school bus was reported at 12:09 p.m. in the 800 block of East Lake Avenue. Surveillance video on bus will be reviewed. 

On Jan. 29: 

●  A one-vehicle crash was reported at 10:12 a.m. The crash occurred in another jurisdiction and caller was directed to appropriate law enforcement agency to contact. 

●  A violation of a court ordered restraining order was reported at 3:19 p.m. The violation occurred outside Monticello and caller was directed to appropriate law enforcement agency to contact. 

●  An incident was reported at 3:59 p.m. in the 200 block of North Main Street.  

●  A residence lock-out was reported at 4:50 p.m. in the 700 block of Johnson Street. Police contacted a locksmith to assist.

 

Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD — For the week of Jan. 17 to Jan. 23, police performed 35 security checks, 17 citizen assists, 11 assists of other agencies, five follow-ups to incidents, nine vehicle registration and eight traffic stops; responded to 29 calls for service and reported eight EMS calls, eight 911 or BEEMS (Brodhead Elderly Emergency Monitoring System) calls and two fire calls. No detox or mental health transports were reported. 

●  A subject knocking on main entrance doors was reported at 1:07 a.m. Jan. 17 in the 700 block of 17th Street. Investigation found it to be an employee who locked himself out. Nothing suspicious was found. 

On Jan. 21: 

●  Truancy was reported at 6:26 a.m. in the 2500 block of West 5th Avenue. Referred to juvenile intake. 

●  A Brodhead woman, 24, was cited for issuance of worthless checks at 10:37 a.m. in the 1600 block of 1st Center Avenue. 

●  Fraud involving an internet scam was reported at 7:02 p.m. in the 2200 block of 1st Center Avenue. Referred to the Internet Crime Complaint Center. 

●  A verbal disturbance was reported at 9:13 p.m. in the 300 block of 2nd Street. A warning was issued. 

●  Harassment was reported at 8:16 a.m. Jan. 22 in the 400 block of 2nd Street. Remains under investigation. 

●  A gas drive-off was reported at 4:52 p.m. Jan. 23 in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. The driver returned to pay.

● For the week of Jan. 24 to Jan. 30, police performed 19 security checks, 15 citizen assists, six assists of other agencies, 11 follow-ups to incidents, 12 vehicle registration and five traffic stops; responded to 50 calls for service and reported six EMS calls, nine 911 or BEEMS (Brodhead Elderly Emergency Monitoring System) calls and four fire calls. No detox or mental health transports were reported. 

On Jan. 24: 

●  A gas drive-off was reported at 5:11 p.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. Driver returned to pay for fuel. 

●  A restraining order violation was reported at 6:54 p.m. in the 1600 block of 20th Street. This remains under investigation. 

On Jan. 25: 

●  A Brodhead woman, 57, was cited for unsafe backing at 7:19 a.m. in the 800 block of East 2nd Avenue. 

●  A cat on a house roof was reported at 7:37 a.m. in the 1200 block of West 5th Avenue. The cat hopped down safely to a nearby tree. 

●  A Brodhead man, 19, was cited for absolute sobriety and imprudent speed at 10:39 p.m. in the 100 block of 14th Street. An additional 19-year-old man, Brodhead, was cited for underage alcohol. 

On Jan. 26: 

●  A Brodhead man, 19, was cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 12:05 a.m. in the 100 block of 14th Street. 

●  Eighteen parking citations were issued for vehicles in violation of the city’s winter parking ordinance. 

●  A drug violation was reported at 11:43 p.m. in the 900 block of 19th Street. This remains under investigation. 

●  A Brodhead man, 59, was cited for snow/ice removal and failure to obey a law order at 11:57 p.m. in the 700 block of West 2nd Avenue. 

●  A Brodhead juvenile was cited for driving without a valid license at 5:04 p.m. Jan. 27 in the 700 block of 1st Center Avenue. 

On Jan. 28: 

●  A parking citation was issued at 2:51 a.m. in the 1100 block of West 2nd Avenue for a vehicle in violation of the city’s winter parking ordinance. 

●  Verbal disorderly conduct was reported at 9:57 p.m. in front of a commercial building in the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue. Police found no violation. 

On Jan. 29: 

●  Possible damage to an internet box was reported at 9:58 a.m. in the 1000 block of 19th Street. Officers found nothing suspicious. 

●  A dog at large was reported at 11:04 a.m. in the 2200 block of West 5th Avenue. Dog was returned. 

●  A hazard involving snow in the roadway was reported at 5:19 p.m. in the 100 block of East 9th Avenue. Prior to police arrival the snow had been flattened and no longer a hazard. 

●  Dogs at large were reported at 5:22 p.m. in the 1400 block of East 2nd Avenue. Dogs were returned. 

On Jan. 30: 

●  A parking citation was issued at 3:24 a.m. in the 800 block of East Exchange Street and at 3:36 a.m. in the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue for a violation of the city’s winter parking ordinance. 

●  A gas drive-off was reported at 12:42 p.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. This remains under investigation. 

●  A Brodhead man, 60, was cited for disorderly conduct at 2:22 p.m. in the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue. 

●  Trespassing was reported at 5:19 p.m. in the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue. This remains under investigation.


Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON —  On Jan. 11:

●  Deputies responded for an alarm at 8:05 a.m. on County O, Town of Shullsburg. 

●  A parking problem was reported at 9:25 a.m. on East High Street in South Wayne. 

●  An animal problem was reported at 10:40 a.m. on School Road, Town of White Oak Springs. 

●  Deputies assisted Darlington police with a lift assist at 10:57 a.m. and at 1:36 p.m. on Galena Street in Darlington. 

●  Leah N. Zweck, 30, Waterloo, Iowa, was cited for driving after revocation and speeding at 11:41 p.m. on Wis. 11, Town of Gratiot. 

On Jan. 13: 

●  A deputy assisted a citizen at 4:01 p.m. on County N, Town of Wayne. 

●  Theft was reported at 4:10 p.m. on County H, Town of Blanchard.

On Jan. 18: 

●  Livestock on the roadway was reported at 2:04 a.m. on County KK, Town of Gratiot. 

●  Suspicious activity was reported at 2:15 a.m. on Crist Lane, Town of Darlington. Jason M. Leitzinger, 18, Boscobel, was arrested for two outstanding warrants and a probation violation. He was cited for operating under the influence, his first offense. He was jailed. Darlington police assisted. 

●  Deputies responded to check welfare at 5:04 p.m. on West Water Street in Shullsburg and at 7:48 p.m. on South Lincoln Street in Cuba City. 

On Jan. 19: 

●  Livestock on the roadway was reported at 6 a.m. on County F, Town of Blanchard. 

●  A juvenile problem was reported at 7:50 a.m. on South Broad Street in Argyle. 

●  A deputy assisted Benton police with a check welfare at 1:07 p.m. on East Main Street in Benton. 

●  A vehicle in the ditch was reported at 6:10 p.m. on Wis. 23, Town of Darlington. Darlington police assisted. 

●  Two vehicles in the ditch were reported at 6:30 p.m. on Wis. 11, Town of Shullsburg. 

●  A deputy assisted Grant County Sheriff’s Office with a vehicle in the ditch at 8:10 p.m. on Wis. 80 in Grant County. 

On Jan. 20: 

●  Deputies responded for a civil dispute at 1:34 a.m. on Galena Street in Argyle. 

●  A parking problem was reported at 3:35 a.m. on South Varnum Street in South Wayne and at 3:46 a.m. on West Center Street in South Wayne. 

● An animal problem was reported at 6:50 a.m. on County U, Town of Shullsburg. 

●  A vehicle in the ditch was reported at 2:48 p.m. on County F, Town of Blanchard, at 3:33 p.m. on St Rose Road, Town of Benton, at 3:46 p.m. on County G, Town of Kendall, at 7:03 p.m. on Wis. 23, Town of Willow Springs and at 10:48 p.m. on County F, Town of Seymour. 

●  Deputies responded to check welfare at 9:04 p.m. on Wildcat Road, Town of Darlington. 

●  A deputy and the Darlington police assisted Belmont police with a traffic stop at 11:22 p.m. on U.S. 151, Town of Belmont.

On Jan. 21: 

●  An injured deer was reported at 3:41 a.m. on Stuart Road, Town of Wiota.
