MINERAL POINT — A 29-year-old Mineral Point woman was arrested March 31 in connection with the death of a four-month-old child Feb. 25.

JoAnna Ford faces a tentative charge of neglecting a child resulting in death. Ford had not been charged as of the morning of April 5, according to court records. 

Ford was the child’s day care provider when the child was injured by what doctors determined was physical abuse Feb. 25, according to media reports.

The child was taken to UW American Family Children’s Hospital and died March 1.

Ford also faces a felony charge of retail theft of $500 to $5,000, for an incident Feb. 1. Ford was scheduled to make her initial appearance on that charge April 5.
