On February 20:
● At 1:58 p.m., officers were called to a two-vehicle accident with no reported injuries, in the 1000 block of 19th Street. The investigation indicated that a vehicle operated by Nathan A. Valentin, 19, of Monroe, was conducting a backing maneuver from a private drive when it collided with a vehicle which was eastbound on 19th Street, operated by Aaron E. Melton, 25, of Monroe. Both vehicles sustained disabling damages and were towed. Valentin was cited for unsafe backing and released pending a court appearance. Melton was cited for inattentive driving and operating without vehicle insurance. Melton was released pending a court appearance.
On February 21:
● At 9:44 a.m., officers arrested Aaron E. Melton, 25, of Monroe, in the 2800 block of 6th Street, on two (2) counts of retail theft after officers had investigated prior shoplifting complaints from a business in the 400 block of West 8th Street. Melton was also taken into custody on an apprehension request from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections-Probation & Parole for a probation violation. Melton was confined in the Green County Jail pending further proceedings. On February 21, 2025, at 11:11 AM, officers arrested Zachary J. Blackwood, 22 of South Wayne, in the 1700 block of 21st Avenue on a warrant issued by the Monroe Police Department for a motor vehicle theft. Blackwood was also arrested on a warrant issued by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections-Probation & Parole for a parole violation. Blackwood was confined in the Green County Jail pending further proceedings.
