On August 2:

● At 4:27 a.m., officers were called to a two-vehicle accident with no reported injuries, where one of the drivers fled on foot as officers arrived on scene. The driver that fled was later located and identified as Juan R. Sequeira Fernandez, 23, of Apple River, IL. The investigation indicated that the Sequeira Fernandez vehicle was traveling east on West 8th Street, and then attempted to turn north on 4th Avenue West, into the path of a vehicle traveling west on West 8th Street, operated by Matthew J. Signer, 42, of Freeport, IL. Both vehicles sustained disabling damages and were towed. Sequeira Fernandez was cited for failure to yield the right of way while turning, hit and run to an attended vehicle, operating after revocation-due to alcohol refusal, and operating without insurance. Sequeira Fernandez was also arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in court, and was confined in the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.
