On January 22:

● 2:45 a.m. A deputy, Gratiot Fire, Gratiot First Response and Green County EMS responded to STH 11, Gratiot Township for a one vehicle accident. Yolanda Mendoza-Diaz, 35, Darlington was operating her 2003 Honda when she lost control of her vehicle due to the weather conditions and entered the ditch, where the vehicle came to a rest. Mendoza-Diaz and passenger, Hermenegildo Atluhua-Mayuhua, 30, Darlington reported no injuries. Mendoza-Diaz was cited for Failure to Keep Vehicle Under Control and Failure to Provide insurance. Mendoza was arrested for Operating Without a Valid License- 2nd offense and transported to the Lafayette County Jail where she was booked and released on bond.

● 7:56 a.m. A deputy responded to STH 81, Argyle Township for a two-vehicle accident. Lyle S. Burke, 61, Darlington was operating his 2015 Jeep heading westbound when a school bus pulled out in front of him, causing him to enter the ditch. Burke reported no injuries. Burke’s 2015 Jeep received functional damage and driven from the scene.

● 10:53 a.m. A deputy responded to Main ST, Village of Gratiot for a two-vehicle accident. Matthew H. McGlynn, 24, Gratiot was operating a 2019 Ford when he backed into Jose E. Ortega-Rodriguez, 45, Illinois 2008 Mazda. McGlynn and Ortega-Rodriguez both reported no injuries. McGylnn’s Ford and Ortega-Rodriguez’s Mazda both received functional damage and driven from the scene.

● 11:33 a.m. A deputy, Darlington Fire and Lafayette County EMS responded to CTH U, Seymour Township for a one-vehicle accident. Fredrick E. Mahler, 71, Illinois was operating 2015 Chevrolet when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. Malher was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries. Mahler’s Chevrolet received disabling damage and towed from the scene. Darlington Police assisted.

● 2:10 p.m. A deputy responded to W Catherine ST, City of Darlington for a wanted person. Theodore J. Forsberg, 26, Iowa was arrested on a body-only warrant out of Green County. Forsberg was transported to a line meet and custody was transferred to a Green County deputy.

● 9:34 p.m. Deputies responded to W Main ST, Village of Benton for a disorderly conduct complaint. Samuel S. O’Brien, 23, Benton was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Endangering Safety with a Dangerous Weapon, and Battery. O’Brien was transported to the Lafayette County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody.
