On September 24:

● 5:20 p.m. A deputy responded to CTH W, Benton Township for a one vehicle accident. Katelyn L. McCallister, 20, Shullsburg was traveling on CTH W when she failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, and struck a fence. McCallister reported no injuries. McCallister’s 2007 Chevrolet received moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

On September 30:

● 6:49 a.m. David W. Merriam, 60, Darlington reported striking a deer on STH 81, Argyle Township. Merriam reported no injuries. Merriam’s 2015 Volkswagen received functional damage and was driven from the scene. 

On October 1:

● 4:36 p.m. Kevin B. Klotz,57, Shullsburg reported Striking a Deer while traveling on CTH O, Shullsburg Township. Klotz’s 2020 GMC received minor damage and was driven from the scene.

● 7:14 p.m. Martin Lobato-Sayago,18, Darlington reported Striking a Deer while traveling on STH 81, Elk Grove Township. Sayago 2024 Nissan received minor damage and was driven from the scene.

● 10:58 p.m. Kay E. Ackmann,77, Dubuque, IA, reported Striking a Deer while on STH 11, Benton Township. Ackmans’ 2012 Dodge received moderate damage and was towed from the scene. 

On October 2:

● 12:18 p.m. Shullsburg EMS, Shullsburg Fire and Lafayette County EMS responded to STH 23, Shullsburg Township for a Two Vehicle Accident. Said M. Ali,38, Madison was traveling Southbound on STH 23 when he Failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign. Joshua P. Gates,47, Rockton, IL was traveling westbound on STH 11 and struck Alis’ vehicle. Both vehicles received disabling damage and were towed from the scene. Ali was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

● 6:42 p.m. Jessica K. Timmens,31, Mineral Point reported Striking a Deer while on USH 151, Village of Belmont. Timmens 2012 Chevy received disabling damage and was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.

On October 3:

● 5:14 p.m. Platteville Fire, Southwest Health EMS and a deputy responded to CTH XX, Belmont Township for a two vehicle accident. Erin M. Willie, 39, Platteville was travelling on CTH XX when she turned in front of a Honda operated by Traven M. Croft, 18, Platteville. Neither Willie, nor Croft, reported any injuries.  Willie’s 2014 Subaru received functional damage and was driven from the scene. Croft’s 1999 Honda received disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Willie was cited for No Insurance and Failure to Yield to Right of Way.

● 10:22 p.m. Deputies responded to Lien CT, Village of Blanchardville for a domestic dispute. As a result, Sean R. Schmelzer, 39, Blanchardville was arrested for Domestic Disorderly Conduct, Domestic Battery, Strangulation/Suffocation, False Imprisonment, and Criminal Damage to Property. Schmelzer was transported to Lafayette County Jail where he was booked on his charges and remains. 

● 10:43 p.m. Argyle Fire, Argyle EMS and a deputy responded to Old Highway 81 in the Village for a one vehicle accident. Sebastian H. Moen, 16, Argyle was traveling on Old Highway 81 when he lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and came to a rest in the ditch line. Moen and his juvenile passenger reported no injuries. Moen’s 2008 Nissan received disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Moen and his passenger were released to a responsible party. 

On October 4:

● 6:56 a.m. Brandon Reyes, Mineral Point, reported striking a deer on STH 23, Willow Springs Township. Reyes’ 2014 Chevrolet Malibu received disabling damage and was towed from the scene. A deputy responded and Mineral Point Fire and EMS assisted.

● 1:42 p.m. Shullsburg Fire and EMS, and a deputy responded to STH 11, Shullsburg Township for a one vehicle accident. Claudia A. Morales-Ruiz, 28, Darlington was travelling on STH 11, Shullsburg Township when she left the roadway and entered a field. Morales-Ruiz’s 2003 Saturn Vue received disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
