On May 2: 

● 1:55 p.m. Richard T Scace, 61,Warren IL, reported striking a deer on CTH KK, Gratiot Township. His 2015 Jeep received moderate damage but was driven from the scene.

On May 3:

● 3:03 a.m. Shane M. Freiburger, 21, Mineral Point was cited for Operating While Intoxicated – 1st Offense on Mound Avenue RD, Belmont Township. Lafayette County EMS assisted.

● 11:36 a.m. Steven C. Jorenby, Jr., 40, Blanchardville reported striking a deer on STH 78, Argyle Township. Jorenby reported no injuries. Jorenby’s 2024 GMC received functional damage and was driven from the scene. 

On May 4:

● 7:51 a.m. Kelsey R. Knautz, 30, Darlington reported striking a deer on STH 23, Willow Springs Township. Knautz reported no injuries. Knautz’s 2018 Ford received functional damage and was driven from the scene.

● 9:14 p.m. Patrick A. Kaydus, 55, South Wayne reported striking a deer on STH 11, Gratiot Township. Kaydus reported no injuries. Kaydus’s 2015 Jeep received functional damage and was driven from the scene.

On May 6:

● 2:10 p.m. A Deputy responded to CTH O, Kendall Township, for a Two-Vehicle Accident. Britton C Baker, 66, Darlington, dozed off at the wheel and side-swiped Caitlin M Finley, 36, Mineral Point. Finley’s 2018 Ford received moderate damage and was towed from the scene. Baker’s 2004 Mercury was driven from the scene.

● 5:32 p.m. A Deputy responded to CTH G, Belmont Township, for a one-vehicle accident. Rollin S Brookhart, 35, Fennimore, was travelling north on CTH G. Brookhart lost control of his vehicle and rolled it multiple times. Brookhart sustained minor injuries. Brookhart’s 2013 GMC sustained substantial damage and was towed from the scene. Belmont EMS, Belmont Fire, and Belmont Police assisted.

● 9:04 p.m. Giovanni M Elrod, 17, Janesville, reported striking a deer on STH 11, Shullsburg Township. No injuries were reported and  Elrod’s 2024 Ford received minor damage and was driven from the scene.  

On May 7, 2025

● 9:06 p.m. Mallary S. Fox, 35, South Wayne reported striking a deer on Meier RD, Wayne Township. Fox reported no injuries. Fox’s 2024 Chevrolet received functional damage and was driven from the scene.

● 10:33 p.m. Jordan A. Lickes, 32, South Wayne reported striking a raccoon on Red Rock RD, Darlington Township. Lickes reported no injuries. Lickes’ 2013 Volkswagen received functional damage and was driven from the scene. 

On May 8:

● 11:47 a.m. Bruce R. Hess II, 73, Cuba City was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (1st Offense) on W Water ST, City of Shullsburg. Hess was transported to Lafayette County Jail where he was released to a responsible party. Hess was also cited for Operating Left of Center. Shullsburg Police and Lafayette County EMS assisted.
