On July 12:
● 1:51 a.m. A deputy responded to Prairie RD, Kendall Township for a one vehicle accident. Zachary A.R. Smith-Titley, 26, Mineral Point, was traveling on Prairie RD when he lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and struck a power pole. The 2014 Chevrolet Smith-Titley was operating during the crash received disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Smith-Titley then stole a 2014 Jeep from a nearby residence and left the scene of the accident. Smith-Titley was later located in Mineral Point where he was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (1st Offense). Smith-Titley was released and transported to Lafayette County Jail where he was then booked for Operating a Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent where he remains. Smith-Titley was also cited for Failure to Maintain Control, Failure to Report an Accident, and Hit and Run - Causing Property Damage. Scenic Rivers, Mineral Point Police, and Iowa County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
● 5:23 p.m. Rogelio Zopiyactle-Xalamihua, 26, Darlington, was cited for Speeding, Operating Without a Valid License, Possession of Open Intoxicants, and Allowing an Unauthorized Person to Drive on STH 81, Darlington Township.
● 10:51 p.m. A deputy responded to STH 81, Darlington Township for a traffic complaint. As a result, Elias Hernandez-Baez, 30, Darlington was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (1st Offense). Hernandez-Baez was released to a responsible party. Hernandez-Baez also cited for Operating Without a Valid License (1st Offense), No Insurance, and Unsafe Backing. Darlington Police assisted
On July 13:
● 2:23 a.m. Deputies assisted Darlington Police on W Alice ST in the City with a disorderly dispute. As a result, Elisabeth J. Becker, 30, Blanchardville was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (1st Offense). Becker was released to a responsible party. Lafayette County EMS assisted.
● 10:15 a.m. A deputy responded to CTH G, Fayette Township for a one vehicle accident. Jorge M. Rosales, 60, Hugo OK was traveling on CTH G when he failed to negotiate a curve, lost control, left the roadway, entered the ditch and came to a rest in a corn field. Rosales reported no injuries. Rosales’ 2012 Dodge and trailer jack knifed receiving functional damage and were driven from the scene. Rosales was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
On July 14:
● 10:17 a.m. Jamie G Hosch, 34, Belmont reported striking a deer on Red School Rd, Elk Grove Township. Hosch’s 2015 GMC received minor damage and was driven from the scene.
On July 15:
● 2:28 a.m. Vicki L Foley,56, Shullsburg reported Striking a Deer on Main St, New Diggings Township. Foleys 2023 Lincoln received minor damage and was driven from the scene.
● 6:35 p.m. Brandon E Switzer, 38, Monona was traveling Northbound on USH 151 when a Deputy attempted a Stop for Speeding. Switzer did not stop and continued into Iowa County where he eventually pulled over. Switzer was arrested and booked into Lafayette County Jail and remains. Switzer was cited for Speeding and obtained charges for Failure to stop for an Officer, Possession of THC and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
● 7:39 p.m. Deputies responded to W Center St, Village of South Wayne for a report of Suspicious Activity. Upon arrival Deputies made contact with Steven Walsh, 46, South Wayne where he was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Bail Jumping. Walsh was brought to Lafayette County Jail where he was booked and remains.
