Monroe Fire

MONROE — Smoke in the attic of a multi-family dwelling was reported at 1:30 p.m. May 14 in the 2000 block of 9th Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found light smoke on the second and third floors of the balloon-frame house. This older style of construction is susceptible to rapid fire spread, often resulting in a total loss. However, firefighters were able to confine the fire near the point of origin and there was minimal damage. The cause of the fire was related to the electrical system. No injuries were reported. Residents were able to return to their home.

●  A semi on fire was reported at 8 p.m. on Wis. 11 in Gratiot. The Gratiot Fire Department and First Response responded. Deputies assisted on scene.

●  A grass fire was reported at 9:08 p.m. on County Y, Town of Wiota. The Woodford Fire Department responded.

●  Argyle EMS responded at 9:50 p.m. to North Broad Street in Argyle. Green County EMS assisted.

●  A brush fire was reported at 2:34 p.m. on County F, Town of Darlington. The Darlington Fire Department responded.

●  South Wayne First Response and Green County EMS responded at 7:05 a.m. to County DD, Town of Wayne.

●  Benton First Response responded at 12:47 p.m. to Ollie Bell Road, Town of New Diggings.

●  A shed fire was reported at 12:04 p.m. on Gant Road, Town of Blanchard. The Blanchardville Fire Department and Blanchardville EMS responded.
