Monroe Fire

MONROE — A gas leak was reported on 18th Avenue at 9th Street at about 12:45 p.m. Monday, July 29. Construction workers accidentally hit and severed a two-inch high-pressure plastic gas line. Firefighters evacuated some houses within the block as well as some businesses south of 9th Street where a smell of gas was detected. No injuries were reported. Firefighters cleared the scene after about an hour and 15 minutes.
