Felony charges for repeat offender

DARLINGTON — A 35-year-old Lancaster man faces felony domestic abuse charges. 

Julius Raymone Schaeffer is charged in Lafayette County with false imprisonment, intimidating a victim or threatening force and disorderly conduct.

All the charges have repeat-offender and domestic abuse sentence enhancers. 

The charges are in connection with an incident Oct. 7, 2021. Schaeffer pleaded not guilty to the charges Nov. 15.

A plea/scheduling hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 18, with a trial Nov. 9-10 if the verdict does not change. 

Schaeffer is free on $3,000 signature bond. 

Schaeffer was placed on two years probation on two Grant County counts of criminal damage to property as a repeat offender for an incident on Christmas Day 2020. 

Schaeffer was sentenced to one year in prison and one year extended supervision in Grant County in 2018 for burglary of a building or dwelling. Schaeffer also was fined in 2020 for second- or subsequent-offense possession of THC, according to court records. 

Schaeffer was placed on three years probation in 2017 on two Lafayette counts of failure to pay child support for more than 120 days.
