Felonies
● Stephen Duane Detra, 45, Albany, pleaded guilty Feb. 3 to felony bail jumping and a misdemeanor second-offense charge of operating while intoxicated, with related charges dismissed. He was sentenced to two years on probation with a conditional 10 days in jail, ordered to complete an alcohol assessment and assessed $2,134 in fines and fees. His license is revoked 13 months. The case stems from a July 28 motorcycle crash on 5th Avenue in New Glarus. The criminal complaint indicates Detra was kicked out of a nearby bar before the accident. A responding police officer arrived to see Detra “covered in what appeared to be blood” running away from a motorcycle tipped on its side. On the officer’s orders, Detra stopped running and was escorted to an ambulance. Witnesses told police Detra was lying facedown in a pool of blood when they first found him and when he heard police were coming he tried to drive away but a witness stopped him. The officer noted Detra suffered serious injuries in the crash, including a possible collapsed lung and broken ribs. His blood-alcohol content was reported to be 0.18%.
