Green County

Felonies

●  Veronica Aguirre, 40, Janesville, was charged Dec. 30 with a Class H felony count of false imprisonment and misdemeanor counts of battery and disorderly conduct, stemming from an incident Nov. 19 at the Last Chance Saloon, W2894 County KS, Juda. Court records indicate Green County dispatch received a walk-in complaint from a woman who said she’d been the victim of a battery at the bar. A deputy observed “several fresh-looking scratches across her upper chest.” The woman said Aguirre pushed her into the men’s bathroom, hit her face, scratched her and yanked her hair. A bartender told police he didn’t witness the fight but “the one girl” (Aguirre) came “storming” out of the hallway near the bathrooms, grabbed her coat and left. The bartender also said one patron was talking about the fight because he had tried to enter the men’s bathroom but couldn’t because someone was blocking the door from the inside.

●  Tanner Ray Beck, 19, Western Illinois Correctional Center, Mt. Sterling, Illinois, pleaded guilty Jan. 3 to a Class I felony count of retail theft. He was sentenced to one year in prison and two years on extended supervision, concurrent to his five-year sentence for a residential burglary in Stephenson County. He owes $2,208 in court assessments. Court records indicate he shoplifted $515 worth of Xbox and Seagate game drives Aug. 25 from the Walmart Supercenter in Monroe, and Walmart employees located packaging for the items in the infant clothing section.

●  Clint Rudolf Leider, 34, Pecatonica, Illinois, was charged Jan. 6 with a Class I felony count of possessing narcotic drugs. Court records indicate he overdosed on heroin at a friend’s house in rural Albany Oct. 22 but was revived with Narcan. Leider later told police he bought a “20 bag” of heroin in the Janesville area and injected it. He said it was his first use of the drug in a decade. His friend also said Leider had been clean for 10 years.

●  LaShawn Teriell Thurman Jr., 19, Freeport, was charged Jan. 7 with two counts of felony bail jumping, stemming from a traffic stop on a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer in Freeport. Court records indicate Thurman was a passenger and police found MDMA (ecstasy) and clonazepam (Klonopin) in the jacket he was wearing. Thurman told police it was his cousin’s jacket.

●  A felony charge of possessing THC as a repeat offender and misdemeanor charges of possessing drug paraphernalia and resisting or obstructing an officer were dismissed Jan. 7 against Tony Lee Herman, 23, Madison, because “the state does not believe that it can prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.” The case stems from a traffic stop for speeding May 26 near Brodhead. The deputy smelled an odor of marijuana coming from vehicle and observed “a green leafy substance on the driver’s pants.” Herman said he had hemp in the vehicle but denied having anything above the legal limit for THC. He said he has a license to sell hemp and runs a CBD oil store on Williamson Street in Madison but misplaced the license at an airport during recent travels. A bag of “green leafy substance” Herman handed to the deputy tested positive for the probable presence of THC, but the testing kit does not test for a certain percentage.

●  Aaron L. Frayer, 52, Beloit, was sentenced Jan. 8 to one year in jail after having his deferred prosecution agreement revoked on two felony counts of failure to pay child support. Court records indicate he was behind in payments, missed a court appearance and didn’t comply with many stipulations in the agreement.
