Green County

Felonies

●  Randall Scott Zuber, 41, Monroe, pleaded guilty and was sentenced Oct. 18 to two years in prison and two years on extended supervision for a Class H felony conviction of escaping custody. Two misdemeanor counts of resisting or obstructing an officer were dismissed but “read in.” On June 16, court records indicate Zuber disappeared from custody for 14 hours while out on Huber work release from the Green County Jail, later explaining to a jail deputy that he “just wanted to go fishing.” He was apprehended in Honey Creek Park in Monroe. At his sentencing, the prosecutor said Zuber needed a “period of forced sobriety within the state prison system” to help him with his alcohol abuse. In a statement to the court, Zuber acknowledged he “made a big mistake” in June “when I threw my 10 months of sobriety away. ... I was upset about money and made a rash, impulsive decision I regret. I put my kids, my coworkers, my boss in a bind, and that was at my expense and I’m truly sorry for that.” He went on to say that he was doing better and had started making art again: “I set a goal for 20 portraits in jail and I think this morning I counted like 30.”

●  Michael R. Graff Sr., 30, Madison, was charged Jan. 8 with one Class I felony count of failure to pay child support. Court records indicate he was ordered to pay $68 per week starting in October 2016 and missed payments from July to Nov. 2017. His total child support arrearage owed is $10,734.03.

●  Brian Leonel Ledesma, 24, Belleville, was charged Jan. 9 with four counts of felony bail jumping, stemming from reports Dec. 6 that he had unapproved contact with a woman and was at a Town of Exeter residence in violation of court orders.

●  Kenneth L. Payne Jr., 35, Rockford, was charged Jan. 10 with an unclassified felony count of hit-and-run involving injury, stemming from an incident Oct. 26 at the Grede Foundry, N2480 County M, Town of Clarno. He is charged as a repeater due to a 2012 aggravated vehicle hijacking conviction in Winnebago County, Illinois. Court records indicate Payne came to work smelling of alcohol and “walking unsteadily,” and when confronted with a drug-and-alcohol screening as required by workplace policy, he “floored it” out of the parking lot in his vehicle, hitting a coworker in the knee in the process. The coworker reported having a sore knee but did not seek medical treatment. A warrant is issued for Payne’s arrest.

●  Joshua James Hudson, 25, Pecatonica, Illinois, was charged Jan. 11 with one Class I felony count of failure to pay child support. Court records indicate he was ordered to pay $68 per week starting in July 2017 and missed payments from Dec. 2017 to May 2018. His total child support arrearage owed is $2,756. A bench warrant is issued for Hudson.

●  Jeanette Ann Bauer, 35, Brodhead, was charged Jan. 18 with a Class I felony count of possessing narcotics and misdemeanor counts of possessing an illegally obtained prescription, possessing drug paraphernalia and operating while under the influence (second offense), stemming from a traffic accident at about 7:15 a.m. Dec. 7 in Brodhead. Court records indicate she rear-ended another vehicle at the four-way stop at 1st Street and East 9th Avenue. She was nodding off and told police she was tired after a long shift at work. Officers reported locating in her vehicle a bottle of prescription morphine, a capped syringe and a kitchen scouring pad used “commonly in smoking narcotics such as cocaine and heroin.”

●  Andrew Scott Shearer, 37, Brodhead, was charged Jan. 21 with two Class H felony counts of false imprisonment and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and bail jumping, stemming from two separate domestic altercations, at a Brodhead home on Nov. 12 and in a Monroe parking lot on Jan. 12, during which he ripped down a shoe organizer, yelled at a woman, called her names and tried to block her from leaving.
