• Keith Daniel Hartje, 22, Evansville, pleaded not guilty Aug. 1 to a Class D felony count of possessing child porn, a Class I felony count of possessing THC, second offense, and Class I felony count of possessing amphetamines/LSD, second offense. He has a pre-trial conference Aug. 21. The charges stem from early March, when Hartje was apprehended by police outside of the home of a 14-year-old girl, who he had been charged with causing to leave her parents without their consent on three occasions in August and September 2017. The charges allege that police found pornographic images of the girl on the phone in Hartje’s possession. He was also found with psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana.
• Jacob Kenneth Wayne Anderson, 22, Monroe, pleaded no contest July 19 to a Class F felony count of possession with the intent to distribute up to 5 grams of cocaine. A Class E felony count of manufacturing between 5 and 15 grams of cocaine and a Class I felony count of maintaining a drug trafficking place were dismissed but “read in,” meaning the judge could consider them during sentencing. The case stems from a search of Anderson’s residence in February in the 800 block of 6th Street. When police executed the search warrant, they found cocaine, four gallon-sized bags of marijuana and a variety of drug paraphernalia, like water bongs, glass pipes, a grinder and a “purple snorting tool.” Anderson was sentenced to three years on probation.
• Alexis Lynne Furino, 26, Brodhead, signed a $1,000 signature bond Aug. 1 on a Class I felony count of retail theft. The charge stems from an incident July 29. Court records indicate Furino was at Walmart in Monroe when employees noticed she was attempting to leave the store without paying for items adding up to just over $1,000. As part of her bond, Furino cannot have contact with any Walmart stores. She has a pre-trial conference Sept. 4.

The charges stem from an incident July 28 at a laundromat in Brodhead. According to court records, a woman was doing laundry with her mother and small children when she was approached and yelled at by McDonald before he grabbed her wrist and pulled on her shirt, not allowing her to leave. He was later found to be under the influence of alcohol.
• James Marlon Foster Jr., 26, Argyle, failed to appear for a preliminary hearing July 31 on a Class D felony count of cocaine possession with intent to sell, a Class I felony count of possession of THC, second offense, and misdemeanor charges of possessing drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. • Ronald Claire Abell, 37, Brodhead, stood mute during his preliminary hearing Aug. 8 on a Class F felony count of burglary and a Class A misdemeanor count of theft up to $2,500. The charges stem from an incident in the early hours of July 24 at Country Garden in Brodhead. According to court documents, Abell, an employee of the restaurant, was identified by the owner and his son in security footage as the man who walks into the business and takes a cash box with roughly $500 in it just before 3:30 a.m. Abell denied it was him in the video footage.
