MONROE - Friday is the kick off for the Green County Beef Producers' competition to find the best burger in the county.
There are 22 establishments participating this year, double the number that took part in last year's inaugural contest.
To vote in the contest, diners can pick up a voting post card from any of the participating eateries. Keep the voting post card and take it along to each establishment visited to get a new stamp for qualifying burgers throughout the contest, which runs until July 31. Diners can mail it in for a chance to win a beef-related prize.
To qualify for the drawing, voters need to purchase designated burgers from at least five of the participating establishments. In order to be eligible for the grand prize drawing, diners must try 15 qualifying burgers.
Prizes include: a gas grill, summer grilling basket, beef bundles and $25 gift card from the participating establishments. Prizes will be awarded during the Green County Beef Producers Steak-Out at 7 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Green County Fairgrounds.
Prize sponsors include Koning Meats and Deli Catering, Hoesly's Meats, Wisconsin Beef Council, Grede Foundry and all participating establishments.
Judging should be based on:
