Concert features performance by Madison's Wingra Wind Quintet at MAC Sunday

MONROE - Monroe Arts Center brings the 2017-18 Sunday Concert Series to a close at 2 p.m. Sunday with a performance by Madison's Wingra Wind Quintet. The concert will feature pieces by Richard Strauss, Theodor Blumer, Elliott Carter and Luciano Berio's "Opus Number Zoo."

The Quintet is one of three faculty chamber ensembles in-residence at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Mead Witter School of Music. Since its formation in 1965, the Wingra Wind Quintet has been featured in performances at national conferences and presented an invitational concert on the Dame Myra Hess series at the Chicago Public Library.

Current members of the Wingra Wind Quintet are Aaron Hill on oboe, Alicia Lee on clarinet, Marc Vallon on bassoon, Timothy Hagen on flute and Joanna Schulz on horn.

General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students ages 18 and younger. Monroe Arts Center members may attend the concert at no charge. Tickets may be purchased by calling MAC at 325-5700 or 888-596-1249, in person at the box office at 1315 11th Street or online at www.monroeartscenter.com.
