MADISON - The Wisconsin Safety Council, the state's leading provider of safety training and programming, and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development will honor Colony Brands, Inc. as one of 13 companies to win this year's Wisconsin Corporate Safety award.
The winning companies provided details on their organization's safety and health leadership, training and implementation programs, and employee participation. Their reports also included information on their safety accomplishments and goals. The applications were judged by an independent panel of 36 safety, health and human resource professionals.
Colony Brands has declared the third Wednesday of each month as "Safety Day.' Time is set aside for employees to participate in safety talks, quizzes and prizes. The program's key objective is to keep safety out in front of its employees and have fun doing so. The company averaged 2,500 employees over the past three years who participated in this program monthly; 10,000 quizzes were collected and 36 safety talks were presented, with a 98 percent participation rate company-wide.
The awards will be presented during the 72nd annual Wisconsin Safety and Health Conference on Tuesday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30 at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells. The Wisconsin Safety Council is an educational division of WMC, which is the state manufacturers' association, and is the state chapter of the National Safety Council.
