DARLINGTON - An area man faces deportation following his recent arrest by police on drug charges.
Police said that they arrested Jose de Jesus Rodriguez-Libreros, 29, of Darlington, on Friday just before 10:30 p.m., on a charge of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
The arrest, police Chief Jason King said in a statement, "was made following a police investigation into confidential tips received by the local Latino population that alleged Rodriguez was a dealer."
Further, a police search conducted as part of the investigation "led to the confiscation of cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia," King said, adding that the department's canine unit assisted in the case.
Rodriguez was jailed and faces deportation and criminal charges.
