City plans disc golf tourney

MONROE - The parks and recreation department is taking registration forms for the second annual Disc Golf Tournament Fundraiser, which will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Twining Park Disc Golf Course.

The format is doubles, which includes the combination of two males, two females or one male and one female. Teams will play one morning round of 18-holes with best shot doubles and one afternoon round of 9-holes with alternate shot doubles. Score will consist of all 27-holes played.

The cost is $25 per team, with all proceeds going to the Monroe Parks and Recreation Disc Golf Fund. Prizes will be given at the tournament, including disc golf discs, Culver's ice cream coupons and Papa Murphy's pizza coupons.

To be entered into the tournament, roster and entry fee are due to the parks and recreation office, 1110 18th Ave., by 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17.
