City offers trees for terrace planting

MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department has trees available for the spring terrace tree planting program. All orders must be placed with the Parks and Recreation Department by Friday, April 6. Flags must be staked by Monday, April 9. Planting is scheduled to begin the week of April 23.

A variety of trees are available to those interested in planting on a terrace with overhead wires. They are:

- Cleveland Select Pear, $49 bare root.

- Ivory Silk Japanese Lilac, $49 bare root.

- Satisfaction Maple, $39 bare root.

The department also offers a variety of trees for planting one on a terrace that does not have any overhead wires. They are:

- Sienna Glen Maple, $49 bare root.

- Emerald Lustre Maple, $39 bare root.

- Skyline Honey Locust, $49 bare root.

- White Oak, $92 per container.

- Burgundy Belle, $49 bare root.

The trees listed are for terrace planting only. Trees purchased through the program will be planted by the Monroe Parks Department. The department will stake the desired location and contact Digger's Hotline prior to planting. The city will mulch, water, fertilize and stake the tree and leave care instructions with the homeowner. The trees are guaranteed for one year.
