MONROE - On Monday, June 16, the Monroe Board of Public Works:
Approved and recommended to City Council a revised agreement between Green County, City of Monroe and State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the Green County Justice Center detention pond.
The revised agreement was initiated by the DOT. The differences include changing "a permanent easement" to a "non-revocable right of use and occupancy for both county and city" for pond maintenance activities, including mowing, erosion repair and clearing outlets.
Authorized Street Supervisor Tom Boll to begin preparations for participation in the county-wide 2009 Clean Sweep program, scheduled for May 15-16. The program provides for collection of chemical and hazardous wastes, and prevents toxic chemicals from being dumped down storm or sanitary sewer or disposed of in landfills. Boll will apply for a grant of up to $25,000 to cover expenses. He said the county will pay for what is not covered by the grant. The last Clean Sweep in Green County was in 2004. Agriculture and businesses will be primary targets for the program, and residents will have the opportunity to bring in their waste chemicals later. Details will be available in a published brochure when they are confirmed.
Approved claims: Whitney Tree Service - $1,798.76 for tree trimming and tree and stump removal; L.W. Allen Inc. - $655 for WWTP retainage; Willet Hufman Associates - $6,077.50 and $3,600 for 30th Street detention basin; SEH - $7,012.41 for design engineering for Eighth/Ninth Street project.
Keith Ingwell was absent; Dan Henke was alternate.
