City of Monroe Common Council: Sept. 15, 2009

MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:

• Held a public hearing and unanimously passed an ordinance rezoning Property No. 142 from R-2 (medium density residential) to B-2 (general business.)

• Passed unanimously a resolution approving cost reimbursement agreement with Menards, Inc.

• Approved for payment claims in the amount of $866,013.53.

• Approved a resolution approving the Green County Fall Nationals Tractor Pull Sept. 19 at the Green County fairgrounds, the Monroe High School Homecoming parade Oct. 2, and the Monroe Main Street Octoberfest and Chili Cook off Oct. 3 in the downtown area.

• Granted operator's license to Chrystal J. Dent, Diane S. Kappe and Michelle C. Vandlen, and a dance license to the Green County Fall Nationals.

• Passed unanimously a resolution rescinding resolution approving change order for the streetscape project contract with E & N Hughes to install a handicapped ramp in the 1100 Block of 16th Avenue. The business owners will be responsible for the instillation.

• Passed unanimously a resolution approving an addendum to contract with Irv's Masonry to extend the completion date of project to Nov. 15, for coal vault masonry work.

• Passed unanimously a resolution approving a change orders for the contract with Irv's Masonry.

• Passed unanimously a resolution approving intergovernmental sanitary sewer and water service agreement with Green County.

• Passed unanimously a resolution approving continuation of membership with CVMIC and increase in self-insured retention to $50,000 for liability insurance. The liability is increased by $12,500 per year and will save the city about $22,800 over the next three years.

• Heard an update by Fehr-Graham & Associates regarding the streetscape project.

Mayor Ron Marsh announced he would hold informational meetings open to the public at 6 p.m. the second Thursday of every month, starting Oct. 8.
