MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:
Heard from Mayor Bill Ross on his activities on behalf of the city.
Approved Cathy Maurer as city representative on Joint Review Board.
Heard from Donna Glynn of the Green County Historical Society on the needs and status of the Lincoln Park Water Tower; Tom Miller of Monroe Main Street on the streetscape award; and Miller and Pam Christopher of Monroe Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the upcoming May 22 celebration of the Square streetscape project completion.
Approved unanimously signature authorization resolutions for First National Bank, to include Mayor Bill Ross.
Approved unanimously $250 donation to American Legion to cover Memorial Day expenses.
Authorized unanimously the issuance and sale of $1,080,000 taxable general obligation refunding bonds. The move saves the city over $68,000 over the next eight years, compared to the original issuance of bonds for refunding two outstanding state trust fund loans.
Approved 6-4 to accept a proposal from Lane Tank Company to repaint the Lincoln Park Water Tower for $21,500, with Green County Historical Society contributing $8,296 toward the project.
Authorized Monroe Police Department to purchase a public safety server for $35,000 from Spillman Technologies.
Approved claims in the amount of $520,552.61.
Approved special events for Main Street Spring Maxwell Street Days Event, May 7 to 8; Chamber of Commerce Square Affair Event, May 22; and American Legion Memorial Day Parade and Service, May 31.
Granted operator's license to Holly J. Leeman, and dance license to the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and Industry for downtown Square area.
Approved unanimously renewing a lease agreement with Green County Historical Society.
Received information on Wisconsin Open Meetings/Records Law from City Attorney Rex Ewald. Ewald will conduct a training session May 18.
