MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, The City of Monroe Common Council:
• Set a public hearing date of July 6 for an ordinance creating Section 8-1-4 of the Monroe City Code: Smoking Prohibited.
• Approved unanimously claims in the amount of $417,290.72.
• Approved special events for Monroe Main Street Concerts on the Square; Monroe Balloon Rally, Inc.; Green County Shrine Club George Carden Circus; Monroe Park and Recreation Department Independence Day celebration.
• Granted renewals for miscellaneous licenses.
• Granted temporary alcohol beverage licenses to Monroe Balloon Rally, Inc., The American Legion for the Green County Fair, and Green County Pork Producers for Pork Chop Whole Hog BBQ.
• Approved corporation name change for The Swiss Colony, Inc. issued a fermented malt beverage and liquor license for their premises at 1112 7th Ave.
• Amended license description for Friendly Inn, Inc. to expand outdoor beer garden area.
• Granted liquor, fermented malt beverage and dance licenses renewals.
• Approved WWTP 2009 Compliance Maintenance Report
