MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:
Heard from Bob Lang from the State Legislative Fiscal Bureau regarding state of the economy and budget forecasting.
Heard from Mayor Bill Ross on city activities.
Approved Ross's re-appointments of Barb Gelbach and Craig Tuttle for three-year terms on the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners to end June 30, 2013.
Approved Ross's appointment of Larry Christopher to the Airport Board of Management to fulfill an unexpired term of Hans Kampfer to end April 30, 2011.
Unanimously passed an ordinance prohibiting smoking in accordance with state law.
Unanimously approved the adoption of an allocation amendment to the project plan of Tax Incremental District (TID) No. 6.
Approved, 9-1, claims in the amount of $436,759.70. Thurston Hanson voted against approving the claims.
Approved special events for Green County Fair Association County Fair and Green County Family YMCA Triathlon.
Passed, 7-3, a directive for police services not be billed for special events. Neal Hunter, Michael Boyce and Thurston Hanson voted against the motion.
Approved, 9-1, to amend a special event permit for Cars on the Square to include the outer lanes of the north side of the Square. Jan Lefevre voted against the motion.
Unanimously approved the sponsorship of the Market on the Square to be changed to the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Granted a temporary Class B fermented malt beverage license to Knights of Columbus for a Green County Fair outdoor beer garden.
Approved, 9-1, to amended the license description for Leisure Lanes Inc. to add an outdoor screened patio area. Charles Koch voted against the motion.
