MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:
Held a public hearing and passed (9-0) an ordinance repealing and recreating Title 10 of the Monroe City Code: Vehicles and Traffic.
Held a public hearing and passed (9-0) an ordinance creating sections 5-2-5 and 5-2-6 of the Monroe City Code: Restatement of Home Occupation and Accessory Dwelling Regulations.
Held a public hearing and passed (9-0) an ordinance repealing and recreating section 5-2-4 of the Monroe City Code: Restatement of Adult Oriented Entertainment Business Regulations.
Approve unanimously claims in the amount of $310,848.56.
Granted miscellaneous licenses.
Heard from City Attorney Rex Ewald and discussed information regarding conflict of interest, abstaining from voting, walking quorum and contracting with the city.
Passed (8-1) a resolution accepting bids and awarding contracts for West-Side Fire Station, Phase 1, 2 and 3. Alderman Thurston Hanson voted against.
Discussed 8th, 9th streets project and passed (5-3) a motion to redesign the projects to include full replacement of water, sewer and sanitary sewer. Paul Hannes, Mark Coplien, Thurston Hanson, Dan Henke, and Kent Kallembach voted in favor; Neil Hunter, Charles Koch, and Charles Schuringa voted against; Jan Lefevre abstained.
