MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:

• Vacated an alley remnant at Northeast Park.

• Approved special event requests for Maxwell Street Days/Summer Fair on the Square from 9 a.m. Aug. 7 to 8 p.m. Aug. 8 in the Downtown Square area; two events for Crossroads Community Church from 8 to 11 p.m. Aug. 14 and Aug. 28 at Twining Park; and the annual fire school Aug. 14-16 at the Green County Fairgrounds, the Merit Center and other locations in the city.

• Created a no parking zone on the west side of the 1000 block of 7th Avenue.

• Approved a temporary Class "B" Fermented Malt Beverage License for Green County Humane Society in conjunction with an outdoor beer garden for Summer Fair on the Square. Alderman Paul Hannes and Alderwoman Jan Lefevre voted against the proposal.

• Passed a resolution establishing procedures and policies for administratively approving use of official city logo by third parties.

Alderman Charles Koch was absent.
