MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:

• Received a presentation by Green County Development Corporation.

• Approved a certified survey map from The Angelus property on 8th Avenue.

• Accepted easements from, and approved abandonment of easement rights and acceptance of sewer main as lateral agreement with Monroe School District.

• Set public hearing date for Sept. 15 for approval of ordinance rezoning property No. 142.

• Authorize hiring Reffue, Pas, Jacobson and Koster, LLP for 2008 city audit for $22,675.

• Approved unanimously claims on claims list in the amount of $435,454.64.

• Approved South Central Wisconsin Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk, 7:30-11:30 a.m. Sept. 12.

• Granted 10 miscellaneous licenses.

• Granted, on a vote of 8-2, temporary fermented malt beverage and wine licenses to Stateline Trailblazers LTD Snowmobile Club, Green County Beef Producers, and Monroe Youth Hockey Association. Paul Hannes and Charles Koch voted against.

• Accepted (10-0) bids and awarded contract to Gentz Electric for streetlights for the downtown streetscape project for $180,518.

• On an 8-2 vote, levied special assessments in the total amount of $13,088.54 for 2008 sidewalk repair. Jan Lefevre and Thurston Hanson voted against.

• Approved unanimously a change order for streetscape project contract with E & N Hughes to install a handicapped ramp in the 1100 block of 16th Avenue for $11,250.

• Granted a request from The Swiss Colony, Inc. for variance from city ordinance requiring alcohol beverage license holders to be open for business and take action.

• Heard update on Streetscape Project by Fehr-Graham & Associates.
