On Monday, March 3, the City of Monroe Board of Public Works:
• Approved a bill for payment in the amount of $5,418 to Whitney Tree Service, LLC, for tree removal.
• Accepted a quote and authorized purchase from Mobile Electronics for eight portable radios in the amount of $3,360.
• Accepted quote and authorized purchase of a new mid-sized truck for $14,269 from Alphorn Ford. The price includes the trade-in value of $1,500 for the present 1992 Jeep Cherokee.
• Accepted quotes and authorized purchase of street construction materials for 2008 from Dannoll Boone Truck, Rees Construction Company, Inc., and Rock Road Companies, Inc.
• Reviewed proposals and recommended to Council to hire Single Source of Brookfield, Wis., to assist in acquiring right of way for the 8th/9th Street project, at a cost of $86,350.
• Discussed replacement of heating system at City Hall; $76,000 has been budgeted for the project. The board asked for estimates and inquired about possible need for duct work to be installed.
