City council OKs parking changes

MONROE - The Monroe Common Council on Tuesday approved three parking-related changes:

• Starting in the fall, a student drop-off zone with a 2-minute parking restriction will be in place along the north side of 8 1/2 Street in front of Northside School. Northside is the only school in the Monroe district currently without a drop-off zone.

• The south side of 16 1/2 Street is now a no-parking zone between 13th and 14th avenues.

• The "no-parking area from here to curb" on the east side of the 1800 block of 13th Avenue, adjacent to 19th Street, is being extended 100 feet up to a private driveway. The additional space will make it easier for trucks to turn onto the avenue, Alderman Tom Miller said.
