MONROE - The Monroe City Band will present its second concert of the summer series at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the band shell in Twining Park. Themed "Dedications," the concert is open to the public and there is no admission charge.

Seating is available, or attendees may bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the natural amphitheater setting.

The 60-member band is in its 66th season, and is made up of musicians from Monroe and surrounding communities.

The concert features a wide range of musical selections, each dedicated to a group or individual in the community, including an Appalachian fiddle tune fantasy, a classic march, a Spanish waltz, a medley of American "pop" tunes from the early 20th century, a pirate tune and a rag-time number.

The band also invites singers with choral experience to join them in a version of "The Battle Hymn Of The Republic" at its July 4 concert. Information is available on the "Monroe City Band" Facebook page at www.facebook.com/groups/182572760187/?fref=nf.

The remaining concerts of the season are scheduled for July 4, July 13 and July 27.
