DARLINGTON - Nancy S. King, 1, rural Darlington, was killed when she was accidentally run over by a vehicle in the driveway of her family residence at about 8:20 p.m. Friday.
The Sheriff's Department reports that Lyle J. Schwartz, 75, rural Darlington, an acquaintance of the King family, had stopped by the residence.
The toddler had crawled under the parked van driven by Schwartz. King was not noticed at the time the van was being driven from its parked location.
King was pronounced dead at the scene by Lafayette County Coroner Virginia Douglas.
