Cheese Days seeks 2010 ambassador

MONROE - Green County Cheese Days, Inc., is taking applications for Cheese Days Ambassador positions until Aug. 1.

Although the event will not take place until September 2010, plans are in place for event promotions. Area residents between the ages of 21 and 27 who are living or working in Green County, or maintaining a Green County mailing address can apply.

The primary focus of the ambassador position is to assist in marketing and promoting the event. In addition to serving as an official spokesperson, the Cheese Days ambassador will promote the cheese and dairy industries and Swiss heritage of Green County, work with the media, appear in parades, and greet the public at many events leading up to the festival.

Some of the job requirements for the Cheese Days ambassador position include: Willingness to learn the history of the event, willingness to learn about cheesemaking, ability to communicate effectively with both individuals and groups, and a pleasant personality and ability to work with a variety of people.

In addition to gaining valuable experience in public relations, the 2010 Green County Cheese Days ambassador will receive a $500 savings bond, Cheese Days costumes, crown, and ambassador portrait.
