MONROE - Brianna Ditzenberger, daughter of Dawn and Guy Ditzenberger, will be the Green County Cheese Days ambassador for 2012.

Ditzenberger was crowned Tuesday, Nov. 1 by 2010 ambassador Trisha Pernot at the 2012 Cheese Days Kick-Off event. Her official duties begin on Jan. 1.

"I'm honored to be serving as the ambassador for the 2012 festival. Cheese Days is an event for the whole family, people who live near and far and cheese lovers alike - there is truly something for everyone to enjoy," Ditzenberger said.

Ditzenberger said she plans to invite visitors to let their "tastebuds do the talking" as they eat their way through the different varieties of cheese made in the county.

"Green County's pride is on full display during Cheese Days," Ditzenberger said, "and I look forward to sharing that pride with the thousands of people who will attend."

As Cheese Days ambassador, Ditzenberger will serve as spokesperson for the festival, making appearances to promote the event as well as the dairy and cheesemaking heritage of Green County. She will also record radio commercials and make television and parade appearances.

Ditzenberger grew up on a small dairy farm near Browntown, where she was an active member of the Browntown Busy Beavers 4-H Club. She previously served as the Green County UWEX Summer Youth Agent. She now continues her involvement with the 4-H program as an adult leader.

During college, Ditzenberger held internships with Agri-View and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection.

Following graduation from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Life Sciences Communication, she has been employed as an associate marketing executive with Filament Marketing in Madison, a company specializing in strategic planning, public relations, branding, and leadership serving clients within the agricultural industry.

In keeping with the tradition dating back to 1915, Cheese Days will again feature a commemorative button to mark the 2012 festival. The new design, created by artist and graphic designer Kim Berg, owner of Fusionfly Web Design and Development in Monroe, was also unveiled Tuesday.

The design, featuring a Brown Swiss cow, dressed in a traditional Swiss milking jacket and carrying a wedge of Swiss Cheese, is similar to one Berg had submitted in the past.

"I was brainstorming, looking for something iconic and not done before," she said. She held tightly to the basic idea this year, and it made the cut.

In addition to commemorative buttons, T-shirts and other logo merchandise, the design will also be featured on a limited edition collector's stein.

Berg has designed product labels, packages, point-of-sale and promotional items, brochures, flyers, posters and logos. The 2008 Cheese Days button is also part of her portfolio.

A native of Polo, Ill., Berg has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., where she majored in graphic design with a concentration on painting and drawing.
