DARLINGTON - Looking to buy a stock car? A Darlington High School class may have one for you.
The Darlington Stock Car Association will auction off a Honda Accord 4-cylinder stock car during the intermission of the opening night of racing Friday at the Lafayette County Speedway. The car was donated by First Capital Salvage in Belmont, with the help of the late Jack Roth, race director, to the Darlington High School Auto Tech class. Roth and The Darlington Stock Car Association provided all other necessary items needed to build the car. The class has finished its school project, and the car is ready to race.
Roth, who was hired as race director for the 2009 season died April 15 following a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Racing for the 2009 season will continue as planned "for Jack."
Hot laps begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, with racing at 7 p.m.
