Dr. Burnett L. Clarke began his veterinary practice in the Monticello area following his graduation from a Chicago veterinary college in May 1895. He practiced his profession for 51 years, retiring in 1946. Prior to attending the veterinary college, he taught in rural schools. He died at the age of 83 in May 1952.
