Celebrating Our Past: Green County Historical Society
38500a.jpg
This photo was taken on April 9, 1909 and appears in the most recent issue of the Green County Historical Society newsletter, along with an article written by Tom Mitchell about the streets being changed from names to numbers in 1929. This view of the snow on East Russell Street looks east from just east of Jefferson Street. Portions of Discher & Schneider clothiers and the Fitzgibbons Carriage Manufacturing building are shown on the right. Shown on the left are the part of the Commercial & Savings Bank, the steps of the Loofbourow Hospital, and an empty lot where the Zesto was built many years later. Those people who become a member now for 2014 will receive a copy of this newsletter as well as the four issues for next year. Dues for individuals are $10 per year or $100 for a life membership. Family dues are $15 per year and can be paid for up to four years at a time, as with the individual memberships. More information can be found on the Green County Historical Society page on Facebook.
