Celebrating Our Past: Green County Historical Society One of the projects of the Green County Historical Society is to collect photographs and record books of all of the one-room schools of Green County and keep them in a single repository the archives at the GCHS museum. Most of these schools have been closed for about 50 years, some even longer. The photographs of the groups of students will be much more valuable to future generations if the names are included with photographs. This photograph of the Blackford School in Jordan Township was taken in 1943. If you are able to identify any of the students, or if you have any photographs that may be copied and returned to you, contact Matt Figi at mfigi48@tds.net or 608-325-6503. GCHS would also be interested in obtaining any teacher, clerk, and treasurer record books from any of these schools. (Photo submitted by the Green County Historical Society)
