Celebrating Our Past: Brodhead Historical Society

This barn raising was a horse barn at the corner of Hoosier Road and Mt. Hope Road in the Town of Spring Grove, 8 miles south of Brodhead. It is thought to have been built when the farm was owned by Lincoln Allen; an 1891 plat book has him as the farm owner. The farm was later owned by Charles Koepp and Gordy Helland. Based on the records available, it is estimated the picture was taken in the early 1900s. The barn no longer exists. (Photo supplied by the Brodhead Historical Society)
