MONROE - The Monroe Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced that Cara Carper is the new executive director.
Carper was the executive director of Southwest Badger Resource Conservation and Development. Southwest Badger is a nonprofit community development organization serving nine southwest Wisconsin Counties, including Green County. There she was responsible to provide leadership and direction, develop and maintain effective relationships, manage all grants and contracts, and supervise and evaluate six staff members.
Prior to working for Southwest Badger, Carper was the Green County Community Resource and Development Educator at University of Wisconsin-Extension. There she had many opportunities to work with local communities including coordination of the Green County Leaders program.
Carper will be responsible for "keeping PACE with the business community." PACE stands for Promote, Advocate, Connect and Educate. The Monroe Chamber of Commerce works to provide the tools to support and grow businesses. More than 300 businesses and non-profits in the Monroe area depend on the support they receive from their local Chamber of Commerce, according to a Chamber news release.
