The city's current budget process is broken. I believe this issue needs genuine leadership that the people of Monroe can count on. I will work with the Tax and Finance Committee to build a responsible budget for the City of Monroe and its citizens.

The city currently does not appropriate adequate funding for Economic Development. Within next year's budget the city must make this issue a top priority.

It doesn't take long to drive through our community to discover our streets need a real commitment for repair. After years of neglect, it's time we made a real effort to rebuilding them. We must not continue to cut the funding for street repair.

Monroe is a very welcoming community for tourism. It's disappointing that our Visitor and Promotion Fund overspent in 2013. This committee needs to determine the best return on investment. As mayor, I will personally work collectively with the Chamber of Commerce, Monroe Main Street and Green County tourism to ensure future funding for tourism.

We have a great asset in the Senior Center here in Monroe. It's unfortunate that there is a lack of trust that has recently developed. I will do everything I can to rebuild that relationship. The foremost thing that must happen is for the city to recognize and support the Senior Center's need for an Endowment Fund.

Currently the city is restructuring certain job titles and descriptions. While the motives may be unclear, it's certain that these department heads are unhappy. These decisions are being made without input from the employers themselves. As mayor, I will make sure that these department heads will have input into these decisions as well as improve communication between employers and City Council.

My last three years on Council have provided me with invaluable experience. I understand the challenges we face because I look at them from a different perspective. While my service to my constituents has seen accomplishments and disappointments, I've made it a priority to represent everyone with honesty and integrity. I will apply these same principles as the next mayor of Monroe.
