What are the top issues facing this district and how would you work to resolve them?

One of the top issues facing this district is maintaining a high degree of excellence in the quality of education using the limited funds that are available. Close attention needs to be given to the budget. Quite simply, we have to prioritize the needs of the students and teaching staff and determine the most efficient methods to receive optimum results. The "needs" of the district must be taken care of before the "wants."

What are other key issues facing the district, and how would you work to resolve them?

There must be a concerted effort to retain the extraordinary teaching staff that we have in our schools. We must develop a warm and inviting atmosphere where students have fun learning from teachers that have the best possible tools we can provide to them. This will require open and honest communication between the school board, administration, teachers, support staff, students, parents, and members of the community. Only by working together can we achieve these high but attainable goals.

Why are you the best candidate for this office?

I have a vested interest in the Darlington Schools as my children were the fourth generation of my family to graduate from DHS. Through my life experiences, I have learned that not everyone has to agree on an issue but everyone has to work together and make wise decisions that will ensure quality education and life lessons for future generations.
