What are the top issues facing this district/board and how would you work to resolve them?

One of the top issues the city is facing is infrastructure which is deteriorating. Some of these issues are currently being resolved or have been corrected however there is still a lot of areas that need attention. I believe the best resolution is to be proactive instead of reactive. Putting off repairs to roads, sewers, and other vital infrastructure in my opinion will only end up costing taxpayers more in the future. We need to make sure the city has good infrastructure in order to attract and retain businesses balanced with keeping taxes in check, especially considering the current state of the economy and considering many taxpayers are on fixed incomes.

What are other key issues facing the district/board, and how would you work to resolve them?

The city is faced with demands for services while keeping taxes in check. The city also faces challenges of creating a friendly environment to businesses and residents alike. Regulations and red tape need to be kept in check in order to keep from discouraging businesses from either expanding or locating in Monroe. Tax revenues should increase with more businesses in town and should also cause home construction and sales to increase. Streamlining permits and having the right personnel in city hall will promote a thriving city.
