What are the top issues facing this district/municipality and how would you work to resolve it?
As in any local government or school district we struggle to balance needs with the amount of money available. Roads need fixing, parks need updates, the library needs to be built, business should be encouraged, the police department and fire service need space and updated or replacement equipment, other office and public works supplies and equipment need attention, and the list goes on. All of this requires careful attention and a balanced look at the whole picture. And what is essential is that all departments, staff and trustees work together in a positive way to prioritize the needs and make decisions that make the most sense for the welfare of all people in the community.
What are other key issues facing the district/municipality, and how would you work to resolve them?
New Glarus needs to build its new library. This has been studied and worked on for a long time. This year we will problem solve and work with all groups to be able to move forward and get the library built. New Glarus is a great place to live. Young families are coming because of the terrific school district, the swimming pool and recreation programs and the safety and small town friendliness. With a new library added, there will be more families that will relocate here and we will continue to thrive and grow.
