What are the top issues facing this district/board and how would you work to resolve them?
Budget priorities are always a big issue for any municipality. A lot of thought and effort needs to go into crafting a budget that addresses immediate needs as well as long-term ones. A governing body always needs to think long-term and in creative ways to find the right balance and use resources to the good of all citizens. There are always strong voices that come forward on contentious issues; care needs to be taken to seek out and listen to those who are not able to come forward to express concerns. I will listen to all concerns and facilitate communication on the board, so we can work together even if we don't always agree with each other.
What are other key issues facing the district/board, and how would you work to resolve them?
In New Glarus there has been an effort for a long time to build a new library. I think we need to move forward with this as soon as possible and I will work to resolve issues that divide the community on this project.
I will also strive to facilitate communication and cooperation with the towns and county on essential services to our mutual benefit.
New Glarus is an amazing community with a lot of dedicated people who contribute to our organizations, school district, festivals and religious communities. I'd like to see us all work together - to give and take when necessary - to keep the village the great place it is to live and do business.
